Why the MSR and LFTR never developed

Why was such a seemingly miraculous source of energy never embraced and developed when we clearly could have done so from the very beginning?

To understand the reasons behind the cancellation of the MSR program in 1976 and it's subsequent burial, we must first understand the circumstances surrounding it's demise.

The following articles were written by Charles Barton, the son of one of the original team members at Oak Ridge National Laboratories. They give a perspective on the development of nuclear energy from an angle few people who were not privy to the inner workings of the AEC and project would have known.

I hope after reading this series, you will come away with a greater understanding of the world of nuclear development and why we are where we are now.
